Nicole Richie is engaged to marry.

Her rocker beau Joel Madden tweeted:  "Yep. I'm engaged. Very happy. Yeah we've been engaged for a while so you're all kind of late on that. But, thanks for the hoopla all the same."

Nicole and Joel are mom and dad to two little ones -- 2 year-old Harlow, and Sparrow, who is five months.
