Time to go to Oshkosh...

I have to admit it...I absolutely love planes. I'm an son of an Air Force veteran and used to live on Ellsworth AFB out in South Dakota..home to such planes at the super huge B-52 bomber, the B-1 bomber, the KC-135 refueling plane, and several jets including the T-38 (like the Thunderbirds) and F-16's (like the Blue Angels)...so I've been around them all my life. The plane freaks that all come to EAA's AirVenture down in Oshkosh is without a doubt like going to a club meeting. And the club is in the hundreds of thousands. One of the truely geekish set ups at EAA is a tent where you can put on pilot headsets and try 'em out. One pair of pilot headphones can set you back $300-500..so it's like putting a Lamborgini on your head! These headsets are the ones with microphones..the staff that talk to customers in this tent wear the headsets themselves..YOU the customer wear one of the headsets and that's what looks funny. You're standing there with headphones talking to a sales rep with headphones on who is standing right in front of you! Geek-central, but I love it. I'll be heading down to AirVenture. Gonna take a ton of pictures..I'll be sure to share them here and on facebook.."Wheels Up!" (photo by Dave Kallaway)
