Donna Summer died of lung cancer today..she was 63. No doubt..the Disco Queen of all Disco queens. I used to work part time for a station out in Rapid City, South Dakota and one time my boss called me in the afternoon and said.."hey..got an emergency..need you to come cover an airshift tonight!" He didn't have to pay me anything but he told me "if you come in to do the shift I'll give you the "Thank God It's Friday" soundtrack." That was the soundtrack to the movie of the same name starring Donna Summer, the Commodores,..it was a DISCO movie! A few years ago Stacy Cole and I interviewed Donna Summer and I had the chance to tell her that story. Not sure if it meant anything to her..but it was a special moment for me. I'll miss her a ton..so glad we have her music. That will always live on...
