Kesha may be a relative newcomer to the mainstream music scene, but she's wasted no time in establishing herself as one of the industry's most sensational young stars.
Now, after releasing her smashing studio debut, 'Animal,' the 23-year-old artist is gearing up to unveil a brand-new album titled 'Cannibal.'
In mid-October, Kesha announced that 'Cannibal' would be released on Nov. 22, just 10 months after she dropped 'Animal' in January. The new album will feature nine fresh songs, including a remix of the title track from her previous record.
'Cannibal' will be released both individually, as well as in a special deluxe edition, 'Animal + Cannibal,' featuring both of her studio albums. The pop star also assembled an all-star cast of producers to put together her new work, including Dr. Luke, Max Martin (who previously collaborated with Britney Spears, and Pink), Benny Blanco (Katy Perry, 3Oh!3), and Bangladesh (Lil Wayne, Beyonce).
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kesha gave some extra insight into the sound of her new album, which, according to her, was made with today's youth squarely in her mind. "I feel like I'm creating this hopefully very youthful and irreverent movement of the kids, of like adolescence," she says. "I feel like the parents don't get it, but the kids get it. And they deserve to have more good, positive music."
The artist also made it very clear that her new music will be just as dance-friendly as her debut, as evidenced by her new singles 'We R Who We R' and the just-released 'Sleazy.' According to Kesha, 'We R Who We R' was written in response to recent news of bullying incidents that led several gay students to commit suicide. "I wanted to inspire people to be themselves," she tells EW. "It's a celebration of any sort of quirks or eccentricities."
That theme of openness, she says, pervades the entire album. "The songs on 'Cannibal' were made to inspire people to ignore any hate or judgment and be themselves unapologetically," she said in a statement. "It's the perfect companion to 'Animal' and I hope you guys like it. And if you don't like it – bite me."
How about this song as your weekend party jam? A lot of people would agree with me, definately been one of the hottest requests of the week. We R Who We R!
