Anderson was diagnosed with mixed dementia two years ago, and following an appearance on TV discussing his illness, Anderson was moved into a care home in October after his condition rapidly deteriorated.

Anderson has four children from his former marriages – Joy, Linda and Gerry Junior, as well as a son Jamie.
