Stacy's personal thoughts...

For the last year, I felt like my best friend has been dating a guy I didn't like.  Everytime he did something nice for her, I always watched with a skeptical eye--what was his motive?  Does he REALLY care or is he "playing" her for a fool?  It took a while but eventually, I warmed up to him--a little.  I finally felt that he was really there for her-really cared for her--really wanted to make this a long term commitment.  I even raised a glass and toasted the happy couple.  Yes, my best friend FINALLY found "the one" and I was just waiting to hear about the big day announcement...

Today, I got a text message that he broke up with her.  He just couldn't handle the strain of the relationship.  He loved her but it's over.  I felt like he dumped me too.  There won't be a big day...nope.  Sure, there are other "boyfriends" out there but this one had great potential.  It's over.  People around me say he'll realize his mistake and come crawling back to her but this time, I think he's done.  So, I will grab my favorite spoon and eat some Ben and Jerry's ice cream with my best friend, the Vikings.  I'll try to tell my friend that it'll be okay but we both know the truth.  This was the best it was ever going to be and it's over.  Cherish the memories you have and be thankful you had the time together.  It's time to heal and look forward to tomorrow.  Skol Vikings.
