the Defense Rests

The Special Olympics Polar Plunge is this Saturday (Wausau).  Every year, we have the honor of being a sponsor and emceeing the event.  A fun day had by all and lots of money raised.  So, this year, Chad Franzen (News Channel 7) decides to throw down the challenge on his web forecasts urging me to jump.  Logistics aside, I don't want to. Nope. Don't want to do it.

                                      crazy lady?

Plain and simple.  I do a lot for charity and the community but for me, I draw the line at jumping into ice cold water. Why?  I don't know. I just do.  I'm getting a lot of crap about not jumping (not from Chad-he's just joking with me) and I have to say, I'm getting quite defensive.  The more crap I get, the less likely I am to jump-ever.  I'm not even going to go into the reasons why I don't want to jump.  I don't have to explain it to anyone.  Still, when cornered over this, I've tried to explain myself.  Those NOT jumping aren't doing anything wrong.  Those who DO jump, good for you!

Why is there this huge push to bring everyone into the water?  So many people support the Special Olympics in so many other ways...why ignore THOSE contributions? They are just as valuable.  So, having said that, leave me alone.  I hate cold water and I'm not jumping.  What I am doing is announcing the names of the jumpers and urging people to applaud their fundraising efforts along with encouraging them as they feel the cold water take over their bodies...Case Closed.  Your keyword is "IMNOTJUMPING"
