Yeah...I was a gigantic Prince fan in the 80's. I had my room painted Purple and it served a double purpose-Prince and the Vikings. But, being 13-14 years old, Prince was quite a bit scandalous. So, when I got a new album, I usually pulled the sleeve out (kids-look it up or ask mom or dad) of the album cover and hid the cover under the bed. I saw through his dirtiness and had an appreciation for the beat and the passion in his music. Hard to tell mom that when she hears the lyrics...
My mom was pretty reasonable about such things but Prince was really pushing the limits. He sang about sex and more sex. He really didn't sing about drugs...it was all sex. I think it even opened a discussion between me and my step dad about Little Red Corvette. The lyrics made my step dad about drive off the road...(My parents always trapped me in the car to talk about the birds and the bees...or Prince and his lyrics) I am not sure I even understand the song now but it certainly got the talk going as we were driving on 494...
