How big was the Badger basketball win over Duke last night? Well, it was the first time Duke had lost in the Big 10-ACC Challenge...it helped the Big Ten win the challenge for the first time and it put this Badger team in front of a national audience of basketball writers and pundits who may be forced to give Wisconsin a 2nd look. after being ignored in the Sports illustrated College basketball issue (not making the 64 team tournament field) and not being ranked, the win should help Bo Ryans squad as it heads into the rest of it's non-conference schedule and will certainly help the tournament committee in March.
The Pointer men's and women's basketball teams continue to roll as they both beat Stout last night. Bob Semling and Shirley Egner have their teams ranked 5th and 15th and are poised for another great winter in Point. Get out to the Quandt Fieldhouse or Berg Gym for some quality D-3 Hoops.
Songs of the Day
Dear Abby-John Prine (1973) from his "Sweet Revenge" Lp comes this funny tune that became a concert staple.I saw Prine at the grand a few years ago...he was still spinning yarns and writing great tunes.
Deadwood, South Dakota-Nanci Griffith (1988) from an excellent live Lp "One Fair Summer Evening" recorded at the Anderson Fair in Houston. Griffith is in fine form telling stories and singing her own songs and other good tunes like this historical drama from Eric Taylor. A reviewer once wrote "why doesn't everybody listen to Nanci Griffith"?.....good question...discover her today.
