The Masters tees off this morning and word is that the reception for Tiger Woods has been respectful. Probably more than he expected. Augusta National Chairman Billy Payne gave a strong critical message for woods in his Opening Statement. Can Woods win the tournament after five months off? Who knows...but it will certainly be great theater as he tries. He knows the course and the poo-bahs that run Augusta will keep order. He also reportedly has dozens of bodyguards that will shield him if any fans want to get frisky. I'm sure KJ Choi and Matt Kuchar are not that happy that they are paired with Woods for the first two rounds.

The Badger Hockey team plays RIT this afternoon in the National Semi-final at the Frozen Four. RIT was a D-3 school until 5 years ago when they made the move to D-1. You wouldn't think they can slow down the high-powered Badger offense but they did upset #1 ranked Denver to get here. You can hear the game on WSAU....pregame at 3:20.

This kind of slipped under the radar this week. Don Nelson became the winningest coach in NBA history passing Lenny Wilkens with 1,333. He's been labeled a mad scientist as he tries all kinds of weird lineup combinations in his years coaching Boston, Milwaukee, Dallas & Golden State.

I'm feeling my mortality a bit more every day as sports figures that I grew up watching start showing theirs. Martina Navratilova was diagnosed with breast cancer this week during a routine mammogram. Luckily the cancer has not spread to her lymph nodes. She was ranked number 1 for seven straight years and I remember some classic battles with Chris Evert.

McCutcheon grew up in Wausau, graduated from Newman and has made his mark as an original in the folk-music world playing all over the world, recording numerous award-winning albums and playing a bunch of instruments including the beautiful hammered dulcimer. He always brings it for his hometown appearances...you won't be disappointed.
