The early rounds of the Masters always seems to rekindle the juices of older golfers and this year is no exception. With most eyes on Tiger Woods and with pin positions that guranteed low scores, Freddie Couples and Tom Watson both went low on Thursday. The 50 year old Couples has the first round lead while Watson joins Phil Mickelson in a 5 way tie for second, one stroke back. Woods is right there as well and fans welcomed him back. So we now know it will take more than serial philandering to cause golf fans to snub the best player in the world. I will say that Woods seemed more comfortable both on the course and in the press conference afterwards. He appears to be making an effort to show more patience and grace. It's a start.
The Badger hockey team is one step away from a National Championship. I don't know if they still celebrate like they did in the 70's but I was in Madison the night they won the title in the late 70's and State Street was one long block party. Seven different Badgers score last night and they will face Boston College Saturday at 6pm. You can hear the game on WSAU.
Doug Melvin seems to be trying to lock up the Brewer pieces long term. First Weeks and Braun...now Gallardo...if Prince is next...Melvin should be GM of the Year.

Songs of The Day (from my I-Pod)
Factory-Bruce Springsteen (1978) from "Darkness on The Edge of Town". You can almost smell the quiet desperation. I don't know if the song is autobiographical but it sure could be.
The Factory-Warren Zevon (1987) The lyrics don't always make sense but Zevon has the energy to make it work....by the way that's Bob Dylan on harmonica
