The Jekyll & Hyde Badgers continued last night hammering 5th ranked Michigan State at the Kohl Center 67-49. They go from cold shooting to a night where they shoot over 50% and nail 9 threes. How tough is Wisconsin at home? They are 13-0 in Madison and have beaten the Spartans 7 consecutive times at the Kohl Center.
Do you know the names Mark Grimmette, Todd Lodwick and Casey Puckett? Well, you'll be hearing them in a little over a week as the Winter Olympics begin in Vancouver. Grimmette is a luger, Lodwick a nordic skiier and Puckett is a former alpine skiier now racing in ski-cross which is making it's debut this time. What makes them special is they are all appearing in their 5th Olympic games for the USA.
It must be fun to be a Wausau West sports fan this winter season. The hockey team, boys & girls basketball team and wrestling team are all putting together excellent seasons. West dismantled East in hoops last night and look to be very strong contenders as we head toward tournament time. Both the West boys and girls face tough matchups this Friday against Marshfield.
Songs of The Day
Don't You Write Her Off-Mcguinn, Clark & Hillman (1979) the airways were full of disco and new wave when these fomer Byrds gave us this slice of California folk-rock. Clark was always the troubled soul of the Byrds and this one off LP gave him a last blast of fame. Hillman of course is the glue that holds it all together. This video is recorded live on a British show called "The Old Grey Whistle Test" which was sort of "The Midnight Special" of Great Britain.
Donald & Lydia-John Prine (1971) the breadth & depth of the songs on Prine's debut LP are astounding. Most songwriters might be happy to write 1 or 2 songs this strong in their entire career. For someone so young to sound this mature and world-weary is awesome and despite many Lps and a career that continues today...he hasnt hit a high note like this since.
