One of the great gentleman in sports is reported to be gravely ill. Former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden, 99, is said to be in "grave' condition at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Wooden coached the Bruins from 1948-1975 and claimed 10 national championships over a 12 season stretch, including 7 straight from 1967-73. It's hard to think that that will ever happen again. The Bruins also won 88 straight games from 1971-74. He was also the first person to become a member of the basketball Hall-Of-Fame as a player and a coach. And did it all while being a great person with players, fans and the media. He did it the right way and some of today's coaches could certainly benefit from his example.

The Woodchucks have dropped two straight to start the season. The bats havent awakened yet but maybe the fireworks show tonight will inspire some runs as the Chucks host Green Bay at Athletic Park. You can hear the game on Foxsports 1390 WRIG immediatly following Everest playoff baseball. The Evergreens take on Wausau West at Simon Field at 4:15.

Chris Capuano returned to the majors last night after nearly three years on the shelf with arm problems. He took the loss as the Brewers dropped three of 4 in Florida. They need to make some hay this weekend in St. Louis.

Four Strong Winds-Ian & Sylvia (1964)  a fine folk tune from the Candadian duo who inspired a host of singer-songwriters from the North country including Neil Young who included a solid version of this on his "Comes A Time" LP. Here's a more recent version of the song from Ian & Sylvia joined by Emmy Lou Harris, Judy Collins, Gordon Lightfoot and Murray McLachlan.

Fountain of Sorrow-Jackson Browne (1974) another top cut from "Late For The Sky". Brownes output in the 70's was nothing short of fabulous. No one does melancholy like Browne.
