Suzy Favor-Hamilton dominated the cross country and track worlds in the state of Wisconsin during her high school years at SPASH . She's being honored for those achievements by her induction to the National Federation of State High School Associations Hall of Fame. Favor -Hamilton won four WIAA State Cross Country championships and holds the state record for the fastest time on the 3200 meter course....In track she won the 1600 meter run at State four consecutive years and also claimed titles in the 800, 1600 relay and 3200 relay. She still holds the state 800-meter record set 24 years ago. Of course after leaving Stevens Point she won nine NCAA titles at Wisconsin and was named Big Ten Athlete of the DECADE for the 90's. She also ran in three Olympics and was ranked 1st in the United States five times She is the first female from Wisconsin inducted into this Hall and just the 3rd athlete ever. The others are Alan Ameche and Elroy Hirsch. And she handled her success and her struggles with grace. I had the chance to interview her a couple of times and she was always pleasant...trust me not all world class athletes are that way. She currently lives in the Madison area and works in real estate while also mentoring young runners and doing motivational speaking as well. She will be inducted with three others this summer in San Diego.

Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
Eli's Coming-Laura Nyro (1968) Three Dog Night had the hit but I prefer the original by the woman who wrote it. She wrote a bunch of hits for other people and once considered becoming the lead singer with Blood, Sweat & Tears. David Geffen talked her out of it and they hired David Clayton-Thomas instead.
Emerald Eyes-Fleetwood Mac (1973) From a forgotten gem of an album "Mystery to Me" comes this Bob Welch tune. This is the pre Lindsay-Stevie Mac in which Welch and Christine McVie did most of the heavy lifting. I can't find a video for this one unfortunately.
