Warriors Battle On

The Wausau West Girls Basketball team fell behind early and trailed the entire game....until Jessica Waldvogel stepped up again. She hit a long three pointer to tie the game and send it to overtime. West then hit their free throws in the OT and beat Middleton 53-48 Thursday night at the State Tournament. Coach Galligan is riding his seniors as all four played over 30 minutes in the game and scored 47 of West's 53 points. They play De Pere tonight.

The Badger Hockey team opens NCAA Tournament play tonight against Vermont. The Catamounts have a mediocre record but in a one and done situation Mike Eaves knows that any team can be dangerous. The Badgers would love to get a second crack at St. Cloud State which beat Wisconsin in the WCHA tournament.

Jim Edmonds will come off the Brewer bench this year. He's played well in the spring after being out of baseball all last year. But there had been some talk that he might not want to commit to the season and was missing his kids. He decided that this might be his last chance to play and will be a key bench player for the Brewers this season.

Hockey fans might want to head to Mosinee this weekend. The Mosinee Papermakers adult hockey team is hosting the Great lakes League Tournament. The top eight teams in the league are in town to play starting today.
