It's Yogi Berra's 85th birthday today so I thought I would share some classic "yogi-isms" with you.
Why buy good luggage?...you only use it when you travel.
"Do you mean now"..(.when asked for the time)
"If the fans don't come to the ballpark, you can't stop them".
'You can observe alot just by watching".
"I knew I was going to take the wrong train so I left early"
"You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I'm not hungry enough to eat six".
"If you don't know where you are going, you will wind up somewhere else".
"Thanks..you don't look so hot yourself" (after being told he looked cool)
It was impossibele to get a conversation going..everybody was talking too much.
"He must have made it before he died" (referring to a Steve McQueen movie)
"If you can't imitate him, don't copy him"
You may try to imitate him but there was only one Yogi.
The Brewers continue to struggle at Miller Park. They've won only 4 games at home...the worst in the majors. Yesterday it was 11-3. Journeyman Eric Hinske had a good day for Atlanta. He's from Menasha, Wi. When he played for the Menasha Legion team he used to kill us when we played them.
The Boston Celtics were left for dead a few days ago and now all of a sudden they have a 3-2 lead in their series with Cleveland. Lebron James showed he was human with a poor shooting night and now the Cavs...many people's choice for this years title... find themselves in trouble.
The Big Ten conference commisoner Jim Delany said this week that there is no truth to a report that the conference had offered spots to Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Rutgers. The Big Ten annual meetings are next week in Chicago but he said nothing will be decided on expansion.
Songs of the Day- (from my Ipod)
Fly Me To The Moon-Julie London (1963) a classic from the Great American Songbook written in 1954 and done by dozens of artists. Here is the jazzy version by torch singer Julie London....when she wasnt heating up nightclub stages she was heating up your tv screen .
The Flyer-Nanci Griffith (1994) Griffith is a staunch opponent of war but an equally staunch supporter of our men in uniform. She does many benefits for military causes and wrote this tune about a chance encounter with a pilot heading to war.
