Walk Off Magic

Corey Hart struggled last year and also during spring training this year. In fact, it was thought that Jim Edmonds might take his job in RF because of Hart's poor play. Well, you can call it a salary drive if you want...but Hart has heated up. He is hitting the ball again and last night gave the Brewers a fabulous win at Miller Park. Hart hit a two run walk off homer in the 9th as the Crew beat the Mets 2-0. Yovanni Gallardo pitched a complete game and outdueled Johann Santana. That's the kind of game that can jump start a winning streak.

The Quest for Lord Stanley's Cup begins tonight as Chicago hosts the surprising Philadelphia Flyers in Game 1. It's hard to focus on on hockey when the weather is this nice. They really need to shorten the season.

Our youngest son Cory is graduating from high school on Sunday. He transferred to Wisconsin Valley Lutheran in Kronenwetter after his freshman year and the smaller school really helped him find himself. I can't say enough about how good this school is. If you are looking for a small, nurturing school environment...this is the place. Thanks to all the people at Valley for helping Cory fulfill his potential!

Songs of the Day  (from my I-pod)

For What It's Worth-Buffalo Springfield (1967) a Steve Stills song written about the Sunset Strip trouble between cops and young club goers that became a 60's icon. This video is from the Monterey Pop Festival...the band being introduced by Peter Tork of The Monkees and notice David Crosby sitting in with the band as well.

For Everyman-Jackson Browne (1973) the title track from his 3rd Lp was written after living on David Crosby's boat for a few months. The title is taken from the boat that sailed the South Pacific in the 60's protesting nuclear weapons testing
