Football fans in the State of Wisconsin are getting spoiled. The Green Bay Packers, who will perform tonight at a sold out Lambeau Field in the annual Family Night scrimmage, are loaded again and anthing but a Super Bowl victory is going to be a major disappointment for many....and The Wisconsin Badgers begin training camp this week with a #12 ranking in the preseason poll. They also face a pretty easy road to the Big Ten Championship game with Penn State and Ohio State both ineligible. Once again, fans will not be happy if Bucky falters somewhere along the way.
It seems a long time ago when both the Packers and Badgers were basically jokes. Neither team was very good and it never seemed to get better. Now, if they arent contending for a championship every year, it's seen as a disaster. Keep enjoying it while you can...a couple of key injuries and everything could change. And while there are no gurantees in life...I'll put a wager down right now that the Packers and Badgers will both be playing for titles in January. Let the games begin.
The US keeps racking up gold medals at the Olympics. Caught some of the judo last night as Kayla Harrison won the first ever gold in the event for America. And the women's eight rowing team continued their dominance in the event with a gold medal win. Also the swimmers keep on rolling. Rebecca Soni set a world record in the 200 breaststroke. Mike Phelps won his 3rd straight gold in the 200 meter individual medley and Tyler Clary broke through and won gold in the 200 backstroke...and then there is Gabby Douglas...winning gold in the gymnastics all-around and setting up a beautiful future as the face of American Gymnastics.
Oh, and the Dream Team embarrassed Nigeria 156-73.
The Plover American Legion Baseball team has their offense dialed in...They scored in double figures for the second straight day in a 13-5 rout of Beloit on Thursday. They face Madison in a winner's bracket game today.
The Woodchucks are still up five with 10 to play after beating Lakeshore last night 3-1. Madison kept pace with a win over Eau Claire. The Chucks are at Lakeshore again tonight before returning home for games on saturday and Sunday nights.
Jupiter Hollow-The Band (1975) from the classic "Northern Lights, Southern Cross" LP...love this album...one of my 10 desert island lps I would take with me.
Just A Song Before I Go-Crosby, Stills & Nash (1977) another Nash love song from the CSN LP...as Crosby put it, "the girls will fall for him all over again"
