Lots of music news today.

The latest inductees to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame were announced yesterday. The latest are Rush, Heart, Randy Newman, Donna Summer, Albert King & Public Enemy. Now you can argue all you want about what is and what is not rock & roll but for me the genre covers almost everything. Rock has a big umbrella and I have no problem inducting someone like Summer or bluesman King or seminal rap group Public Enemy. all of these artists had an effect on rock in varying ways...by what they did or how they influenced others. I'm also delighted that Randy Newman is in. For those who only know him from his sappy cartoon mvie songs...go back and explore his work in the 70's and 80's. Biting, satirical songs that cut at the hypocrisy of life in America. Great stuff. And Rush waited 15 years after first being eligible to even be nominated...and then get in. It's about time. some call them flabby & bombastic...but they are certainly worthy of rock's highest honor.

The concert to benefit Hurricaine Sandy victims is tonight at Madison Square Garden. Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, Eddie Vedder, Dave Grohl, Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Chris Martin plus others...Yikes what a lineup. The concert will televised on many different channels inclduing CBS, AMC, VH1 Classic, HBO, Showtime and also on many web sites including AOL, Yahoo, MTV, Hulu and People.com. It's starts at 6:30 our time

Jimmy Page has announced he will hit the road for a solo tour next year. It will probably be later in 2013 and he doesnt know if he will have a solo record in conjuction with the tour.

Sitar legend Ravi Shankar has died at the age of 92. He became popular here in the 1960's as he was associated with George Harrison & The Beatles. He also played a well-recieved set at the famous Monterrey Pop Festival in 1967.

Happy Birthday to Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts who turns 69. Pull out Blue Sky, Jessica or Ramblin Man and here his greatness.

Badger basketball tonight as Bo Ryan's squad hosts UW-Green Bay. You can hear the game on WSAU at 7pm

The Bucks also are back in action tonight as they host Sacramento. You can hear the game on Foxsports1390 & FM 93.9 at 6:40.

Watched a little known but interesting movie that came out earlier this year. It's called "Blackthorn" and stars Sam Shepard as an aging Butch Cassidy living in Bolivia. It was shot on location and the scenery is spectacular...the story is a good one...and Shepard is superb as the aging outlaw. Check it out.

Dreamboat Annie-Heart (1976) the title track of the debut album shows the quieter side of the Wilson sisters. They played the Grand Theater in Wausau on this tour and nobody knew who they were.

Political Science-Randy Newman (1972) from his classic Lp 'Sail Away" comes this tongue in cheek look at foreign affairs...once again, it could have been written last week...here he appears on a British TV show called 'The Old Grey Whistle Test" that featured all of the top musical artists of the 70's playing live. There are clips all over You Tube from the show.

She Works Hard For The Money-Donna Summer (1983) some say she doesnt belong but for a time nobody was hotter...this was a number 1

I'll Play The Blues For Ya-Albert King(1972) if for nothing else than influencing Clapton, Richards and other great rock guitarists..the other Blues King earns his spot.

Fight The Power-Public Enemy (1989) Not everyone's cup of tea...but Rock has always been about rebellion...and these guys were on the front line. Nice to see Flava Flav when he was still relevant
