Trash Talking Is Fun

Posted by Tom King on

It's only trash talking if you can't back it up right? The Bears have given the Packers some extra motivation as if they needed it. Brandon Marshall says it's all scheme and the players arent that important for the Packer defense. He says theya re afraid to cover him one on one and this game is "personal" for him. Lance Briggs called Jermichael Finley an idiot for suggesting that Brian Urlacher's career might be over because of injuries and that whoever replaced him may be better. I don't mind a liitle bad blood between players and teams. In this corporate, button down world that pro sports has become it's a bit refeshing to see some dislike leak out. I've seen enough of players fratnernizing before games and kneeling inprayer together afterwards. I've seen enough of players sharing agents and not be willing to speak their minds about things because of possible fall out from endorsements and league fines. Do you think Butkus and Jim Taylor broke bread before a game? Did Ray Nitschke hang out with Don Meredith? Of course not. My favorite rivalary was always the Red Sox and Yankees back in the 70's. Those teams and players genuinely didnt like each other and made no bones about it. That was always a good time. It's not nearly the same anymore and for me that takes some of the fun out of pro sports. So here's to Brandon Marshall & Jermicheal Finley and Lance Briggs for keeping the "bad blood" flame burning between the Bears & Packers. May it always be so.

The Letter-BoxTops (1967) an unknown group of guys were given a demo tape and told to pick any song to do plus this one. The vocal was done by Alex Chilton who was just 16 at the time!
