Bucks Need Help and Irsan Delivers

Monday February 20, 2012 Posted 3 months ago by Tom King

Irsan Ilyasova has always had the reputation that alot of foreign players get in the NBA. A nice player but really not hard-edged enough to flourish in the big-time. Too soft if you will. But Irsan is changing a few minds with his play the last couple of weeks. With Bogut out and Drew Gooden also missing some games with an injury the Bucks have been desperate for somebody to give them both offense and rebounding toughness inside and the Turk has delivered. He has two the top rebounding games in the entire league this year including last night as he went off for 29 points and 25 boards in a win over New Jersey. He consistently is able to grab rebounds or at least keep the ball alive against bigger players and has given Bucks fans hopes that they can withstand all of the injuries and thr brutal schedule to make a run for a playoff spot after the all-star break.

Unfortunatly one of the teams the Bucks are chasing for a playoff spot is the New York Knicks. Jeremy Lin did it again yesterday on national tv with 25 points, 14 assists and 5 steals against the defending champs. The Knicks played fabulous defense in the 4th quarter and it's going to be a challenge for coach Mike'Dantoni  when Carmelo Anthony is ready to return...because a team with Anthony Amare Stoudamaire and newly aquired JR Smith is not nearly as good defensively as what they had on the floor yesterday.

The Pointer hockey team advanced in thrilling fashion on Saturday winning the regular game and then taking the mini-game in overtime after tying it up with only 36 seconds to play.

Congrats to Billy Brebrick of Wausau East and Olivis Wednt of DC Everest. Brebrick medaled twice at the state swim meet and Wendt won two events at the state Alpine meet in snowboarding.

The seeding are out for the boys basketball tournament and as expected DC Everest in the one seed in D-1. They will face either Wausau West or EC Memorial in their first game and MArshfield or Wausau East if they advance.

Milwaukee Brewer pitchers and catchers have reported and their first official workout is today.
