The Green Bay Packers will have to settle for a nice vacation to Hawaii the week before the Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers confirmed yesterday that he would play in the Pro Bowl. Rodgers go the most fan votes and he will be the starter. Seven Packers are going to the game. John Kuhn is questionable to play after hurting his knee against the Giants. Clay mathews and Charles Woodson were also picked as starters. Greg Jennings, Scott Wells and BJ Raji were chosen as backups. The Packer coaching staff will handle the NFC team.
Mike McCarthy also had his season ending press conference yesterday and said that he expects the Packers to improve from within and the draft. Don't expect much of a splash in the free agent pool. Also he said that the new CBA curtails many of the off-season programs that were previously in place and that will hurt the young players..especially young QBs like Graham Harrell.
Ryan Braun will be in New York this weekend to accept his MYVP award at the Baseball Writers Association dinner and will give a speech. It will be interesting to see if he addresses the suspension and how the writers will welcome him.
Yu Darvish signs with Texas for a reported $60 million over six years. He better be more like Hideo Nomo than Hideki Irabu. Will the Rangers now go after Prince? Hard to believe that Prince is still out there. It seems like Scott Boras has overplayed his hand and will have to accept less than he thought to get a deal done with anyone.
The Badger mens basketball team seems to have righted the ship...3 wins in a row...they hit 12 three's last night in a 77-57 win over Northwestern.
I'll have high school hockey tonight as Wausau East plays at Stevens Point. game time is 7pm on Foxsports1390. The games are always available as podcasts on foxsports1390.com.
Watched the season premieres of Justified and Southland last night...just great TV. Wean yourself away from the reality show crap and start watching well written, well acted dramas again.
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
I've Got The Music In Me-Kiki Dee (1974) an Elton John protege who scored a hit with this a couple of years before teaming with John for the chart topping "Don't Go Breaking My Heart"
I've Got the World On A String-Louis Prima (1957) love this version of the classic...featuring the great Sam Butera on sax.
