A Princely Sum

The Detroit Tigers couldnt face going into the season with a big hole in their lineup after the injury to Victor Martinez. Not when the AL Central is there for the taking. Dave Dombrowski swooped in yesterday and snared Prince Fielder to plug that hole. It will cost him 214 million dollars over 9 years. If Fielder continues to mash like he has with the Brewers he will earn that kind of cash. And since it's an American League team, he can DH down the road.

This does weaken the Tigers defensively since Miguel Cabrera will have to move back to 3rd base. But the thought of facing Cabrera and Fielder back to back is giving alot of AL pitchers heartburn this morning.

Two of the top hitters in the NL move to the American League. With Pujols and Fielder gone the NL Central is a much happier place for pitching stafss everywhere.

I'm looking forward to the Central Wisconsin Baseball Hall Of Fame dinner tonight. It's at Dale's Weston Lanes and you probably can get a last minute ticket...call the Woodchucks office at 715 842-0313.
