Did you watch the Pro Bowl? I happened to catch the first few minutes and was appalled by what I saw. It was a travesty...an absolute mockery of the game. I don't thnk anyone expects real football but the idea that anyone would pay money to sit in the stands and watch this or even watch on television is hard to understand. Is the public's appetite for football so immense that they will waste their time and money watching what in essence is a glorified touch football game? The lineman don;t hit or block...the recievers sit down at the first sight of being hit and the running plays were so bad that the crowd was booing at one point.
I know in the grand scheme of things it isnt that important but if youre going to have this thing and promote it so heavily is it to much to expect some "real football". If the players and teams are that afraid of injury...just cancel the damn thing.
The Bucks are back in action tonight against Detroit. You can hear the game on Foxsports 1390. Milwaukee is coming off a win over the Lakers. Extended road trips are going to be hard for everyone this shortened season...even good teams like LA although I'm not sure that the Lakers can be listed as a "great team" anymore. The Bucks will need someone to step up in the abscence of Bogut and at least for one night Drew Gooden was the guy.
I've been listening to the new "Chimes of Freedom" discs which I picked up on Friday. 80 different artists doing Dylan songs to benefit Amnesty International. It's really good...alot more hits than misses. Big names and other artists I wasnt familiar with but turned out to be excellent. Only 20 bucks...well worth it.
Watched the movie "Secreteriat" over the weekend. Good movie, and the racing scenes were spectacular. I didnt realize at the time what a financial gamble the owner took to see Big Red race. Diane Lane and John Malkovich both sparkle in the film.
Songs Of The day (from my I-pod)
If He's Ever Near-Karla Bonoff (1977) Maybe best remembered for writing songs that Linda Ronstadt did...but Bonoffs's debut LP is a masterpiece of 70's LA folk-rock featuring the best backing musicians of that time. But it's the songs that stand out and Bonoff's voice, while not as powerful as Ronstadt's, certainly does these songs justice.
If I Can't Have You-Yvonne Elliman (1978) She was supposed to sing "How Deep Is Your Love" and the Bee Gees were supposed to do this one...but the record company president told them to switch songs and it worked as both were hits for the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack.
