The World Comes To Wausau

Posted by Tom King on

Most of us drive over the bridge near the library without even thinking about the world class canoe & kayak course that flows beneath. But now you can see why the folks thought it would be a good idea to build it. The world has come before and here they are again. The 2012 International Canoe Federation Junior and U23 championships are being contested now thru Sunday. The field includes 300 athletes (including some who will be in England later this month for the Olympics) from 27 countries. With all of the events going on this weekend...don't forget to take a stroll down to Whitewater Park and check out why the world has come to visit our little slice of heaven.

Wausau Post 10 pounded out 17 hits last night as they beat Merrill 10-5. The Bulldogs are back in action tonight at Mark Simon Field to take on RSW at 7pm.

The National League will have home field advantage again this year after dismantling the American League 8-0 in last nights All-Star game. The Brewers get back to work on Friday at Miller Park vs the Pirates. We will know in the next two weeks if the Brewers will be looking to trade.

Songs of The Day   (from my I-pod)

Join Together-The Who (1972) it was supposed to be part of a sci-fi rock opera that was a follow-up to Tommy. But the "Lifehouse' project was scrapped and this was a song released as a single and not on an album

The Joint Is Jumpin-Fats Waller (1937) Check your weapons at the door and get down with anybodys daughter"...Fats was huge in more wasy than one
