QB Is Key

Posted by Tom King on

We've said it before ...its tough to win in the NFL without a top flight quarterback. Injuries always play into a teams season and the question is always, how do you handle injuries to key personnell. The Packers have done a great job fighting through all of the injuries they have faced...but the most important thing is they have been able to keep Aaron Rodgers healthy enough to play at a high level. Not so the Chicago Bears...who for the second straight season have lost QB Jay Cutler late in the year. Now Cutler has his flaws but when he's on he can be one of the better quarterbacks in the league and without him the Bears offense will struggle alot more than they usually do. After Monday's debacle in San Francisco they have seen a 2 game lead over the Packers evaporate. Who would you bet on down the stretch?  The December 16th game at Soldier Field may not even mean anything if the Bears don't solve their offensive problems before that.

The Big Ten is adding two more teams. Maryland and Rutgers continue the conference's march east and moves them into the lucrative New York and DC tv markets. Let's face it...this is all about money. It's go big or go home when you're talking about college athletic conferences these days. But it certainly takes away the traditional feel of the Big Ten. And what about the name. It seems to me that the powers that be would be loathe to change an iconic name that means so much for marketing and merchandise purposes...but it is kind of weird to keep it for a 14 team conference.

The Bucks get upset for their first road by the upstart Bobcats who have started the season a surprising 5-4. You cant lose these games, especially when you have to go into Miami on Wednesday.

A high school doubleheader tonight on Foxsports1390 AM & 93.9 FM. First up its hockey as the Wausau East Lumberjacks host Pacelli..pre game at 7...that will be followed by DC Everest boys basketball as the Evergreens host Green Bay Preble.
