Jeff Tripplette went from hero to goat in the span of three hours on Sunday afternoon. Joe Buck thought he was going to announce a riot when the no-call came on the obvious fumble and it did seem like the crowd was ripe for violence...but a holding call on the go-ahead field goal wi[ped out a Saints lead and you just knew that he would miss the follow-up.
It wasnt a good day for the regular officials in this game at least from the Packers perspective but a win is a win and they keep pace with the surprising Vikings that have now won three games.
Things to like: The o-line opening holes and Cedric Benson finding them...James Jones makes the most of his chances...scoring touchdowns 4 of 5 times in the Red Zone.
Things not to like: more drops...confusion in the secondary...Woodson losing his head (he probably should have been tossed)
The PAck now faces an unfamiliar challenge...three in a row on the road.
The Badgers are a mess...luckily they get three winnable games before facing Michigan State..but if you cant get one yard with the game on the line what chance do you have. Apparantly it was a communication breakdown and was supposed to be a QB sneak instead of a handoff. Montee Ball must be ruing the day he didnt go pro .
The Orioles, Yankees & Rangers clinched playoff spots yesterday. The A's, Tigers & Cardinals are close. The Brewers were eliminated yesterday with a 7-0 loss to the Astros.
The European golfers came up with the biggst rally in Ryder Cup history and beaqt the Americans 14 1/2 to 13 1/2. Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker did not have a good week. The Euros overcame a four point deficit on the final day. That really is incredible.
Had a nice night at KB Willet Arena on Saturday night doing the PA for the Joe Zuniga Memorial Hockey game between the CW Saints and The Fort Wayne Federals. Joe was the founder and owner of the Saints and a long-time hockey booster in the Stevens Point area. He passed away earlier this year.
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod) Jimi Hendrix was buried on this date in 1970.
The Wind Crys Mary-Jimi Hendrix Experience (1967) Quiet but full of power
Manic Depression-Jimi Hendrix Experience (1967) another track from the classic first album. Dripping with menace in every note
