Even if you're not a religious person you had to be moved by the Dodge Ram Truck ad using the voice of Paul Harvey extolling the virtues of the American Farmer. One on-line poster thought it was interesting that that such a flag waving tribute should come from a company owned by the Italians (Fiat) and also noticed that all of the tractors featured were made by Case (owned by Fiat as well). Still, in my opinion, the spots that tugged the heart strings (Jeep) scored better than the ones trying to be funny. It seems the humor is being written by trendy twenty-somethings that have nothing in common with me. The Oreo spot, although humorous, was a complete rip-off of the Miller Lite "Tastes Great, Less Filling" campaign of all those years ago.
Best Use of Celebrity...Amy Poehler
Best Movie Trailer-Lone Ranger
Worst Branding-Budweiser Black Crown...you couldnt pay me to try that beer after the obnoxious commercials.
Brett Favre was actually amusing during his pre-game stint on the NFL Network. He said he plays fantasy football and finished last in his league and also told a humorous Warren Sapp/Jeff Dellenbach story.
I suppose they have to have a halftime show that appeals to a younger audience once in awhile but that doesnt mean I have to like it. A little singing mixed in with alot of dancing doesnt do it for me. It looked like a glorified aerobics routine. That was payback to us oldsters for The Who.
Oh...the game...not bad...lots of high points...Jacoby Jones probably got rooked out of the MVP award although it almost always goes to a quarterback. Hopefully we never have to hear Ray Lewis's name again, and if some network is thinking of adding him to a pre game show that will guarantee I will never watch it.
One game after not getting to the free throw line at all against Ohio State, the Badgers shoot over 40 and beat Illinois again. Frank Kaminsky had the best game of his career as Bergrenn was in foul trouble much of the game. They play Iowa on Wednesday.
The Bucks bounced back with a Saturday night win over Orlando. They hit the road for a couple now...Tuesday in Denver and Wednesday in Utah.
The high school hockey seedings are out. West, Spash, Pines & DCE get first round byes...East will host Lakeland in a first round game next Tuesday. Tonight I'll have the East-Marshfield game as the second half of our doubleheader on Foxsports AM 1390 & FM 93.9.
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
Live & Let Die-Paul McCartney & Wings (1973) one of the better Bond themes although the movie itself is pretty outdated.
Live With Me-Rolling Stones (1969) from "Let It Bleed" but check out this amazing duet with Christina Aguilera...yeah really
