The UWSP men's basketball program has a history of success and it is continuing this year. The Pointers clinched at least a share of their 27th WIAC title and a #1 seed heading into the conference tournament with an overtime win over UW-Stout. They also have been ranked highly in the D-3 national poll all year. Coach Bob Semling has continued the tradition of winning that was begun by the Bennett brothers and he does it using a mix of players from around Wisconsin but also a few of the top players from our area as well. Joe Ritchay (who led the team in scoring last night) and Clayton Heuer are from Wisconsin Rapids and Jordan Lutz is from Amherst. In fact, only one player on the roster is from outside Wisconsin. The team has also had to battle through the loss of one of their best players. Senior guard Tyler Tillema has been out since mid-December with a nagging high ankle sprain. UWSP will host Eau Claire this Saturday...Senior Day at Quandt Fieldhouse with the tip-off set for 3pm.
The Pointer women's team under long time coach Shirley Egner continues to play well. They beat Stout last night to move to 19-5 on the season. They will host Eau Claire also on Senior Day Saturday.
The Bucks got a much needed win last night. Both Monta Ellis & Brandon Jennings heated up scoring 27 & 21 as the Bucks rallied in the 4th quarter. Milwaukee is now 4 games up on the Sixers for the 8th and final playoff spot in the East heading into the All-Star break. They are still close enough to move up past Boston & Atlanta in the playoff seedings so they can avoid a first round playoff series with Miami. But they won't be able to do that if they decide to trade Jennings. There were rumors floating around yesterday that Dallas was interested in the Bucks guard and that Brooklyn was interested in Irsan Ilyasova.
The Badger men's basketball team returns to action tonight as they travel to the barn in Minnesota. You can hear the game on WSAU with an eraly start...5pm pre-game...6pm tip.

Songs Of The Day (from my I-pod)
Living In The USA-Steve Miller Band (1968) back when the band still played the blues...from their second album "Sailor". Early Steve Miller is much better that the pop pap he recorded in the late 70's.
Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman)-Led Zeppelin (1969) from Led Zep II comes this tale of an annoying groupie. Jimmy Page reportedly didnt like the song and the band didnt use it in their live shows
