Big Day For Bucky

Posted by Tom King on

The Badger Athletic Dept had a big day on Sunday. It started off with a resounding mens basketball win over Ohio State. Going on an early 18-0 run, Bo Ryan's bunch rolled over the Buckeyes in front of a national TV audience 71-49. Ben Brust continued to be hot with 15 point and 11 boards...Jared Berggren added 15 and Sam Dekker had 13. It was their fifth win over an AP Top 15 team this year and the largest margin of victory vs a ranked opponent since 2009.

The afternoon continued as the women's hockey team beat Minn-Duluth 3-2 on Senior Day at LaBahn Arena. Brianna Decker had two goals including the game winner. With the win they clinched a home game for the WCHA playoffs which begin in 2 weeks. They finish the regular season on the road at Bemidji State this weekend.

And the men's hockey team capped the day with a 3-2 win over Minnesota in the Hockey City Classic on the outdoor rink at Soldier Field in Chicago. Goalie Joel Rumpel came up large with 36 saves and the Badgers scored all three goals in a dominating second period.

History at Daytona yesterday. Danica Patrick became the first woman to grab the pole at Daytona with the fastest qualifying time. Jeff Gordon will join her on the front row this Sunday.
