Can New Coach Jump Start Bucks?

The shelf life of Scott Skiles as a head coach always has an expiration date. His intense way of doing things eventually causes veteran players to tune him out. Every time you look at Skiles on the bench he's scowling. I dont think I've ever seen him smile. I don't know if that's what has happened here but both Skiles and the team agreed to mutaully part ways on Monday. The Bucks have dropped four straight and have been maddeningly inconsistent. They go from beating Miami one night to losing to Detroit. They currently are at 16-16 while going just 9-8 at home. This is a playoff team. With Ellis and Jennings playing at a high level and guys like Larry Sanders blooming into top notch defensive players...this is a team that has the talent to make a playoff run. We'll see if a new coach can get a more consistent result night in and night out. Veteran assistant Jim Boylan will take over on an interim basis. It starts tonight at home against Phoenix.

The Packers are underdogs as they head to San Francisco this week. Once again...I wouldnt go anywhere near betting on a rookie quarterback in the playoffs. I'll take Aaron Rodgers and the points and say thank you very much.

The NHL says that training camps will open this weekend and they hope to start a 48 game regular season on January 19th.

We will have a high school hockey doubleheader tonight on Foxsports1390 & FM 93.9. I'll have Wausau East at Wisconsin Rapids in game 1 followed by Chris with DC Everest at Antigo in game 2. It all starts at 7 tonight.

I'm all geeked out about the return of Justified tonight. The Timothy Oliphant drama returns for a 4th season coming off two of the greatest seasons in TV history. If you havent gotten into this show yet...start at the beginning on DVD and join the fun. The character of Marshal Raylan Givens was created by author Elmore Leonard and the writing is fabulous...the setting (Harlan County Kentucky) is not one that you see all the time...and the acting is top notch. There really is nothing not to like about this show!

Songs of The Day  (From my I-pod)

Like A Hurricane-Neil Young (1977) one of his classic guitar jam songs from "American Stars & Bars"

Like A Freight Train-John Hiatt (2010) one of the most unique voices in music and as strong a songwriter as America has produced. His lyrics rarely fail to transport me to another place.
