The hype of the Super Bowl reaches it's zenith not on Sunday but today. It's Media Day in New Orleans and "reporters" (an I use that term loosely) descend on the SuperDome to interview players and revel in the chaos created when the biggest sports event in the country meets the crazyness of every cable channell and niche website trying to one up each other in stunts and stupidity. If I was a serious football writer or reporter I would skip the whole thing. It's an exercise in futility to get much of anything related to football but we will get marriage proposals, costumes, and more idiotic questions than you can even imagine. The league has decided that it values any kind of publicity rather then their dignity. My advice is to tune out the nonsense until game time on Sunday. There is plenty of actual hoops and hockey action this week to get you to kickoff.
The Badgers go on the road for a tough one tonight at Ohio State. You can hear the game on WSAU with pre-game at 5pm.
The Bucks are on the road at Detroit. Indiana lost last night so the Bucks can pick up another game in the standings.
I'll have a high school hoops doubleheader tonight. Its DC Everest at Wausau East in girls and boys basketball. Pre game at 5:45 on Foxsports AM 1390 & FM 93.9
Songs of The Day (from my I-pod) We will remember Leroy "Sugarfoot" Bonner. He was the frontman for the Ohio Players. He passed away last weekend from cancer. Here's some funk to get you moving...
Love Rollercoaster-Ohio Players (1975) live in all their glory on the Midnight Special
Skin Tight-Ohio Players (1975) How can you beat lyrics like "You're a bad bad mrs..in your skin tight britches...running guys into ditches"
