Finley Says No

Posted by Tom King on

The Green Bay Packers are going to be faced with a big decision. Jermichael Finley said this week he would not take a pay cut to re-sign with the team. Finley is due to receive $8.25 million in salary and bonuses this season but the Packers have other contract situations to deal with and Finley's inconsistent play has them thinking about re-doing that deal. Finley, who is going to be 26 this month, has always had an inflated perception of his talent and value and must believe that he can earn more on the open market. The Packers will owe him a $3.5 million dollar roster bonus this month so a decision will have to come soon. With the loss of Donald Driver and the probable loss of Greg Jennings, can the team also say goodbye to the potential of Finley as well. Or have they waited long enough for Finley's "potential" to manifest itself?  It's the next big decision for a team that will have a bunch of them to deal with.

Both Wausau West and Wisconsin Rapids came up short at the State Hockey Tournament. West lost to Verona 6-3 and Rapids dropped their matchup with defending champion Green Bay Notre Dame 7-0. EC Memorial and Superior both advanced as well. The Central Wisconsin Storm begins play today vs Onalaska.

The DC Everest boys basketball team is one game away from a trip to the State Tournament. They beat Superior last night 54-35. They will face the powerhouse from Oshkosh North for the second straight year. North dismantled Stevens Point 71-47. Rhinelander, Auburndale & Amherst also advanced to sectional finals.

The girls continue play tonight in regional action. You can hear Marshfield at DC Everest on Foxsports AM1390 & FM 93.9 at 6:45.

Also Wausau West will take on Burlington in the State Team Wrestling event at the UW Fieldhouse in Madison.

The Badgers may have lost Ryan Evans for awhile. He was injured in practice yesterday. He's listed as day to day with a knee problem. Wisconsin will host Purdue in the regular season home finale on Sunday.

No songs of The Day today because they have changed some of our computer stuff for the new-look web site and my computer cannot cut & paste...only slightly annoying.

Have a great weekend!
