The Milwaukee Brewers return from the All-Star break and step right into the blast furnace of a pennant race. They play the first place Washington Nationals this weekend and we will see quickly if last Sundays pounding of the Cardinals ended the slump which saw them drop 11 of 13 games. They also face a tough schedule down the stretch including home & home series with the Dodgers & Giants...and 25 games against the three teams chasing them in the Central. They expect to get Jim Henderson back at some point and it will be interesting to see if Doug Melvin makes any other moves to shore up the bullpen before the trading deadline which comes in a couple of weeks. It should be an interesting late summer in Wisconsin. We'll see if the fans stay interested once the Packers and Badger football teams get back to work.

And don't forget the Central Wisconsin Baseball Hall -Of Fame banquet is at Athletic Park this Sunday afternoon. Call the Woodchuck ticket office for details. Ken Roesler, Joe Westfall and Dick Iverson are this years inductees.

Songs of The Day (from my I-pod)
Night Train-James Brown (1961) Brown re-works the lyrics of this old blues tune and it becomes a shout-out to various cities he hoped would play the tune...still a funky instrumental track though
Night Train-Rickie Lee Jones (1979) not the same song but an outstanding track from her stellar debut album
