The Wisconsin Woodchucks split their DH with Green Bay last night at Athletic Park. They lost the first game 4-3 which was a continuation of the rain-out from Opening Night. And they won the night-cap 5-4 but it was the way they won it that excited the fans that were left in the ballpark. A walk-off win is always exciting...and especially so when you have to score more than one run to do it. The Chucks were down 4-1 heading into their final at-bat and looked dead in the water...but the Bullfrogs couldnt put the game awat, making two big errors in the inning including a dropped fly ball at the warning track with the bases loaded...it looked like a game winning grand slam when it left the bat of Matt Tellor. As it stood, it set up the game winning heroics for Jake Peter as he hit a game winning sac-fly that scored a sliding Jimmy Corentti with the winning run. There was a big crowd at Athletic Park last night...they werent all around for the end...but remember when you leave the game early, you can always catch the action on Foxsports1390 & FM 93.9...including tonight as the Chucks welcome Lakeshore for a 6:35 game.
Stevens Point will play for a State High School Baseball Title on Thursday night after winning two games on Tuesday. They beat Kenosha Bradford 4-2 and Bayport 14-5. They face Sun Prairie at 6pm on Thursday.
Legion baseball tonight includes Wausau at Wisconsin Rapids
The drama and hard hitting action of the Stanley Cup Finals begin tonight as Boston skates at Chicago. Two of the "Original Six" will square off with Lord Stanley's Cup on the line. Steve Rushin had a great piece in SI last week on what makes the hockey playoffs great.
Songs Of The Day (from my I-pod)
Low Rider-War (1975) another classic from the summer of 75
Lowdown-Boz Scaggs (1976) a fine example of the high polish and sheen that pop music can have and still sound soulful as hell. This is of course from the Silk Degrees LP...which should be on any Top album list of the 70's. Tasty!
