Righting The Ship

The Badger mens basketball team seems to have weathered the storm of that losing streak which seemed to have ruined the great start to the season.  The Badgers beat Minnesota on Thursday night 78-70 in Madison. They have now won 3 in a row and have cracked the 20 win mark for the 11th time in Bo Ryan's 13 seasons in Madison. Ben Brust bounced back from his worst game and hit for 20 points and six rebounds.They continue a tough stretch of games Sunday at Michigan.

The Badger hockey teams are both in action tonight. The men are at Ohio State and you can hear the game on WSAU. The women play at home against Minnesota.

The Olympic mens hockey tournament started out as expected on Thursday. The US, Canada, Russia and Finland all won their openers.

The Brewers have reportedly spent the most ever for a signing bonus for an international player. Reports out of the Dominican Republic say that Milwaukee has signed 16 year old Yirver Gilbert Lara for a reported 3.2 million. The team has been trying to increase their presence in Latin America.

The Wausau West Warriors and Wisconsin Rapids Raiders have tied for the Valley Conference Title. That's after Rapids beat Wausau East 6-1 while West was losing to Stevens Point in overtime 5-4.

The high school hockey tournament begins on Tuesday but area teams to have a game left. East is at Black River Falls tonight...DC Everest hosts West Salem...and Wausau West will play Madison Edgewood Saturday at Marathon Park.

Its a triple header of high school hoops tonight on Foxsports Radio AM 1390 & FM 93.9...first up Wausau West at DC Everest in boys and girls basketball...that will be followed by the Merrill boys at Wausau East.

Van Halen has a new album in the works

The new U2 album will be delayed until this summer. The band will perform at the Academy awards. They will sing their song Ordinary Love which appears in the movie Mandela:A Long Walk To Freedom.

Oprah Winfrey's OWN network is going to do a tv movie on the life of Darlene Love. OWN has also aquired the braodcast rights to the documentary "20 Feet From Stardom" which tells the story of Love and other great back up singers. Love is best known for working with Phil Spector in the early 60's. She was the lead voice on the Crystals "He's a Rebel"
