WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) – The union representing Wausau’s transit employees has become the last in the city to agree to wage concessions.
The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1168 voted late Thursday to defer 3 percent in wage increases until the end of 2010.
The city’s police, firefighters, clerical and public works unions have agreed to the same concessions.
Wausau had essentially forced the unions to accept the concessions as a way to balance the budget. Employees would have risked more unpaid furlough days and layoffs had they not accepted the offer.
