MOSINEE, Wis (WSAU) More details have been released in a fatal drunk driving roll-over crash in Mosinee. The driver, 39-year-old Travis Ploman, was unable to tell police where he'd been and where he was going.
He'd also claimed that his wife wasn't with him, when in fact her body was hanging out of the window of their rolled-over S-U-V. She died in the crash, along with Ploman's 12-year-old daughter Erin.
Ploman's 9-year-old son Jordan survived the crash. His father will face additional charges of interfering with an officer for struggling with police who were trying to tend to his son, who was found on the side of the road after the crash.
Police say the Ploman family had been returning from a night with friends at a home on Lake DuBay. Their hosts said the adults drank beer in a garage while the children played in the house. The Ploman's brought a cooler of beer to the house. It's not clear how much they drank.
Ploman's blood alcohol level is not known. He failed an initial field-sobriety test, and then refused to take a Breathalyzer. Yesterday he appeared in Marathon County court and was ordered held on 100-thousand dollars bond. He'll be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
