WEST ALLIS, Wis (WSAU) A 54-year-old man stopped a bank robbery from happening yesterday. West Allis Police said the potential robber walked into the Guardian Credit Union wearing a white mask. He claimed to have a weapon.
A teller was putting money into a bag when the Good Samaritan jumped on the robber and held him until the police got there. The man hurt his nose, but the robber – a 21-year-old Milwaukee man – suffered an asthma attack and was taken to a hospital. The Good Samaritan told police his wife was standing next to the robber – and he took action because he didn’t want her to get hurt.
West Allis Police Captain William Kreuser said might have done the same thing. But in general, he said it’s not worth getting involved over a few thousand dollars, because you never know if the robber has a gun. This one was not armed.
