MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) - Marshfield’s new fire station has already come in over budget even before crews dig their first shovel in the ground.
The City Council awarded a bid for the project Tuesday night that exceeds the original cost by at least $238,000.
The Council approved several alternates or add-ons that will raise the cost, including a partial basement, bi-fold doors, and concrete instead of concrete driveways.
Aldermen Alana Feddick and Ed Wagner voted against the bid package because of the cost.
Groundbreaking for the new station is set for next Wednesday at 10 a.m.
