CALUMET COUNTY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Calumet County authorities hope to finish their investigation later this month into a Dumpster explosion that killed a small town firefighter. 33-year-old Steven Koeser died and 8 other firefighters were hurt December 29th while putting out the Dumpster blaze outside Bremer Manufacturing in St. Anna.

Sheriff’s captain Paul Rusch said the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives wanted to conduct a test – and that should be the final piece of the investigation. Officials said water from the fire hoses caused a hot container of metal byproducts to explode. 17 firefighters were close to the bin when it blew up. Koeser died at the scene.
