OSHKOSH, Wis. (WTAQ) - Bonds have been set for an Oshkosh man and his fiancée who are charged in the killing of a woman during a drug robbery. 20-year-old Donald Martin is being held under $1 million bond on charges of first-degree intentional homicide and armed robbery. 18-year-old Samantha Rew is under a half-million dollar bond on 6 charges, including felony murder and burglary.
Authorities said Martin beat 22-year-old Emily Wayman with a hammer and stabbed her in the neck because he was in a rage, and he needed her OxyContin to feed his addiction. Prosecutors said Rew and the couple’s 7-month-old son were along when Wayman was killed.
Winnebago County Assistant District Attorney Scott Seman called the nature of the killing “horrendous.” He said it appeared that anything which stood in the way between Martin and OxyContin was at risk. Both defendants were due back in court Friday to consider motions in their cases. A preliminary hearing is set for April 22nd, when a judge will decide if there’s enough evidence to order a trial.
