Carlos Guillen's two-run double was the big hit in a six-run seventh inning as the Tigers rallied to beat the Royals 6-5 yesterday afternoon at Comerica Park. Gerald Laird, Scott Sizemore and Austin Jackson also each hit RBI doubles in the frame.
After Dontrelle Willis allowed four runs over five frames, Joel Zumaya worked two relief innings for his second win. Jose Valverde got the save as the Tigers evened up the three-game set at a game apiece.
On Sunday, the Tigers fell behind the Indians 7-to-1 but came back to beat Cleveland 9-to-8. Detroit is now 6-and-2 and will send Rick Porcello to the mound this afternoon against the Royals.
Following an off day tomorrow, the Tigers begin their longest road trip of the season, an 11-game journey that begins Friday night at Seattle. The White Sox lost 4-to-2 last night at Toronto while the Cubs had the day off.
