STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) A pilot from Stevens Point crashed his small plane in a farmers field in Baraboo. The pilot was fighting strong winds at the time, and was trying to land at the Baraboo airport when he went down around 5-30 yesterday afternoon.
Two small planes were flying together on a trip to Florida. The first landed safely. The second did not.
The pilot was identified as Bill Reid of Stevens Point. He was taken by ambulance to St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. There was discussion of trying to airlift him from the scene, but the winds were too strong to get a rescue helicopter into the area. His condition is not known.
