CLARK COUNTY, Wis. (WTAQ) - The state fire marshal’s office is helping Clark County authorities investigate a barn fire where a man was found dead. The victim was scheduled to have an autopsy in St. Paul, and his name was not immediately released.
The barn was located on the farm of Fred Schindler Senior near Curtiss, about 25 miles northwest of Marshfield. 4 fire departments helped put out the blaze – and it took them 9 hours to get it done. Abbotsford Fire Chief Galen Kulas said the barn was engulfed in flames when firefighters got there late Monday afternoon. He said it was a large barn with hay and bedding in the upper level. The blaze was confined to the barn, but the intense heat caused damage to a nearby machine shed.
