MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Madison man has been charged in the hit and run traffic death of a Good Samaritan who was helping to get a woman’s truck out of a snow bank. 75-year-old Eugene Finley is due in Dane County Circuit Court February 24th on a felony charge of hit and run causing death. Prosecutors said Finley’s car struck 51-year-old David Wilhelm and kept going. A witness said the crash caused Wilhelm to fly through the air. It happened in December of 2008.

Doctors said Wilhelm had a number of serious injuries that made him susceptible to pneumonia – and he died from that disease about 2 months ago. Authorities said a mirror was found at the scene of the crash. And that, plus other tips, led investigators to Finley.
