FOND DU LAC, Wis. (WTAQ) - A 2-year-old girl in Fond du Lac was dragged by a car for 70 feet Wednesday, after she was hit while crossing a street. Erin Konen was taken to a local hospital and then flown to Children’s Hospital near Milwaukee. Her condition was not immediately available.
Police said Erin and her mother Heather were in a crosswalk at a downtown intersection in Fond du Lac when they were struck by a car in the process of turning. Several witnesses, including a city inspector, lifted the back of the car to free the youngster. Heather Konen, who’s 34, suffered minor injuries. An 88-year-old Fond du Lac woman was the driver. She told police she didn’t see the 2 in the crosswalk. The driver was cited for failing to yield and inattentive driving. Police say they’re still investigating.
