KENOSHA, Wis. (WTAQ) - A Racine man was sentenced to 7 years in prison Monday for throwing a punch that killed a middle school teacher in a fight outside a Kenosha sports bar. 21-year-old Martin Walker must also spend 5 years under extended supervision, after a jury convicted him of felony murder. Authorities said he punched 24-year-old Colin Byars a year ago last Sunday – and the victim died after his head hit the sidewalk. Investigators said Walker was driving without a license when he saw a police car behind him – and he parked at the bar and tried to blend in with other customers before getting into a fight. Walker is still charged with 3 other counts, including the robbery of a gas station a few hours after the murder.
