STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) - Wisconsin public service is hoping to teach students about electrical safety through an in classroom program called Path To Ground.
Spokeswoman Kelly Zagrzebski says professional linesman will be teaching middle school students all this month. The students will be learning about how to treat downed power lines, how to handle electrical appliances and outlets, and how to keep themselves safe in thunderstorms.
Zagrzebski says the knowledge may be second hand to some people, but that students need to learn how to handle themselves before that knowledge becomes ingrained.
The program is offered to all schools in WPS's coverage area, and is an annual event in the Portage County area.
