STEVENS POINT, Wis (WSAU) The police chief in Stevens Point and a hotel owner say a sex weekend has been cancelled at the Royale Inn on Valentines Day weekend.

There were concerns that the sexual freedom weekend would violate local ordinances, particularly if sexual activity took place outside the privacy of the hotel rooms.

But the organizer of the event, Club N-C-N of Black River Falls, insists the event is still on. It's still listed on the group's web site.

Hotel management say the group's reservations have been cancelled.

The city had threatened to fine the hotel up to 1-thousand dollars per violation, and to possibly shut the event down as a public nuisance. Stevens Point's ordinance bars sexually-themed businesses from operating where alcohol is served, and the hotel has a liquor permit for its bar and restaurant.
